Meagan Schorr's Public Health Blog

My name is Meagan Schorr and I am a first year graduate student in the Community and Behavioral Health Master of Public Health Program at the University of Iowa. Over the next three weeks I will be traveling to India as part of the Indiawinterim program with the water sustainability section. This blog will be a window into the new and exciting adventures India will bring!

This student blog is unedited and does not necessarily reflect the views of the College of Public Health or the University of Iowa.

27 Hours of Travel!

The below post was suppose to go up while in Abu Dhabi however the internet was not working and so I am reposting it now.

Let me preface this post by stating that at this point I have been traveling for over many hours and am feeling a bit out of it. Please excuse any and all grammar mistakes (I am sure there will be multiple) and possible  rambling. It has been a very interesting, very exhausting, and very ECXITING day of travel and it is not even close to done yet! My day started at 8am at my house outside of Chicago where I spent several hours cramming all of my essentials into my suitcase (looking back I may have packed too few clothing items and too many other items… i.e. peanut butter, granola bars, etc.).

Joanna, my fellow Public Health student and travel buddy, had arrived at my house the night before and so we spent the morning and afternoon preparing all of our stuff. Our first flight left Chicago at 7:45pm and was a 12.5 hour flight to Abu Dhabi. The flight (which I had a few minor apprehensions about before departing) turned out to not be bad at all! The food was pretty good (they feed us 3 meals!) and I was able to watch movies, TV shows, and get some sleep. My only complaint is that I did not have enough leg room and my knees are not feeling too hot.

Currently we are at the Abu Dhabi international airport waiting for my next flight to Dehli (which will leave in about 3 hours). We will arrive in Dehli at 3am local time and from there head to our hotel… which I am very excited to see! The Abu Dhabi airport is very decorative and full of beautiful tile art (I will post a few pictures once were in India). Between the long travel, tiredness, and EXTREME EXCITEMENT I am blanking on fun and interesting things to share. Once were in India and settled I will post all about the rest of our travels and  where we are staying!

Take care!
