Finally I have started to feel better as Joanna, several other members of
our group, and myself were struck with some kind of awful travelers sickness.
It took two days of laying extremely low, sucking back pepto and antibiotics,
and hauling it to the bathroom to finally start to feel human again. We are
back in business!
For right now I am going to write about our group projects and save all
the touristy stuff we did a few days ago for a later post.
Tomorrow is our last day with IRRAD (the NGO we have been working with)
and each of the smaller groups we have divided ourselves into will be
presenting the work we have accomplished over the last 3 weeks. My group is
focusing on water quality testing we conducted, the health impact of water
within two comparison villages we selected, recommendations for future work,
and we will be leaving behind an educational poster for the villages on water
safety as well as a focus group guide to be completed. Last time I posted we
were going to be conducting our own focus groups however a combination of
sickness and changes with field workers prevented that from happening. We were
able to go out into the field and collect water samples and conduct interviews
with women regarding their drinking water and have that data to present
tomorrow. So far every single water sample we collected has tested positive for
bacteria!!!
Wish us luck for a great presentation tomorrow!
